The Cottage

The Oak Barn is a luxury two-bedroom cottage, perfect for two to four people to enjoy a luxury break in the heart of Dartmoor.  This detached barn conversion is designed as an “upside down house” to make the most of the stunning views across Dartmoor and to create a light, airy and spacious living environment.  It has been lovingly handcrafted using local oak finished to the highest standard, and stylishly furnished throughout for your comfort.

Beneath a vaulted, arched oak trussed roof space sits the lounge.  Large sofas and scatter cushions create a comfortable and relaxing environment for lounging in front of the cosy log burner, watching a film on the large screen TV or listening to music.  As the evenings draw in, you can create your own ambiance using the variety of lamps, low level in-floor lighting or high level up-lights.

Eat

The kitchen and dining area are accessed across an oak floored bridge over the entrance hall.  The fully equipped kitchen is handmade from solid oak with granite work surfaces, a full size butchers block and a 5 burner, two oven range - perfect for the aspiring chef!  There is also a fridge, separate freezer, dish washer, washing machine/dryer and other essentials.  We even offer a fully stocked wine rack with an honesty box arrangement for payment!

Sleep

On the ground floor, either side of the entrance hall are the bedrooms - the master bedroom features a contemporary styled king size four poster bed, the second bedroom has two single beds that may be linked to form a super-king size bed. 

 

Both rooms feature en-suite designer bathrooms with large walk-in showers and baths.  No expense has been spared on the quality linen, mattresses and towels ensuring real comfort and a touch of luxury.

Relax

For the colder wetter Dartmoor days, respite is at hand in the cedar lined sauna, warming and soothing tired muscles after an active day on Dartmoor.  Under-floor heating throughout the cottage provides constant comfort during the chillier months and is silent in operation.  

 

The large flagged entrance hall is ideal for storing and drying outdoor wear during wetter weather.  Outside the entrance is a large south facing sun terrace with BBQ and dining area and beautiful views over the surrounding pastures towards Dartmoor and its many tors.

Considerations

Although we have a dog ourselves, we don't accept pets in the cottages.  For the comfort of our other guests and our neighbours, there is no smoking throughout the property.  Minimum stay - 5 nights.
