The Rugglestone

Everything you could wish for in a rural pub

The Rugglestone

When you arrive at your home away from home, in an unfamiliar destination, after a long day traveling, the last thing you want to do is think about preparing an evening meal - no matter how good the facilities!

Thankfully, the Rugglestone (named for a nearby Logan stone) is only 300 yards from your front door at Lower Venton Farm - an easy walk down a sleepy country lane - though we do recommend taking the torch provided during the winter months as there are no street lights to see by!

The Rugglestone is everything you could hope for in a country pub. It's lively in the summer with plenty of outdoor seating and views of the surrounding moorland hills. In the winter it's snug and cosy with log burner by the bar to keep you warm. Most of the beers are brewed locally, the brewer lives in the village! You'll also find local farm ciders on tap as well as many more familiar drinks. The food is excellent, home cooked pub fare with something for everyone at very reasonable prices.

The occasional entertainment is fun and immersive. You might find yourself sharing the bar with a blues band or joining a band of Morris Dancers in the lane outside the pub - an unforgettable experience!

The best thing about the "Ruggle" though is the welcome, you'll feel right at home. And, if you're travelling with a four legged friend, they will be made welcome too.

So, rather than cook on your first night in Widecombe, why not relax and soak up the atmosphere in this wonderful rural pub? Booking is advisable as it is a popular destination with the locals too!
